KEVA Planks Exhibit Returns to The Discovery Museums, April 29 – September 4, 2015
Acton, MA – The Discovery Museums are welcoming back the popular traveling exhibit, Design! Build! KEVA!, scheduled to open on April 29. The exhibit—a combination art gallery and construction lab—consists of 15,000 KEVA wooden planks and will be open during public hours from April 29 through September 4.
The KEVA exhibit was last at the Museums January through May 2014, and proved very popular with visitors.
KEVA planks are identical hardwood maple blocks measuring ¼” x ¾” x 4½”. Every piece is precision cut so they fit together perfectly and create surprisingly stable structures. The magic is in the simplicity: since every piece is exactly the same, there is no need for glue or connectors or special pieces. KEVA Planks require just simple stacking so even young children know what to do, but few parents can resist the chance to get in on the action.
“Building and creating come naturally to kids,” said Neil Gordon, CEO of The Discovery Museums. “The beauty of the KEVA Planks exhibit is that there will be an enormous supply of them, so kids and families can really exercise their creativity and have fun together. We are really excited to bring this special exhibit to our visitors.”
An opening event will be held on May 2 at the Science Discovery Museum, featuring several staff-led challenge activities. Visitors will also have a chance to win a 200-piece KEVA set valued at $90.
Design! Build! KEVA! is generously sponsored by JM Coull, Inc.
