Foundation for MetroWest’s Middlesex School Youth in Philanthropy Students Grant $1,500 to The Discovery Museums To Support Access Programs

ACTON, MA—The Discovery Museums announced today a $1,500 grant recommended by the Foundation for MetroWest’s Youth in Philanthropy (YIP) student group at Middlesex School in Concord. The funds will support the Museums’ Especially for Me program series, which offers free events for families of children who are deaf or hard of hearing, have a visual impairment, or are on the autism spectrum.

Foundation for MetroWest provides its YIP student groups with training in nonprofit management, philanthropy, and grant evaluation before they carefully evaluate grant applications submitted by area nonprofits. “Every student put serious thought into each stage of their deliberations and we are proud of the hard work these youth put into this process,” said Judy Salerno, Executive Director of Foundation for MetroWest.

“It is inspiring to see students take an interest in community service and the work we do here,” said Neil Gordon, CEO of The Discovery Museums. “Supporting families whose children who have barriers to free play and experiential learning is something they should feel very good about.”
