“Childhood is the springtime of humanity”

We all have personal experience with childhood but now we have neuroscience to inform us about how early experiences shape brain development. It is not instruction, but rather “love grows brains”. This hopeful presentation will discuss the impact of trauma on children and their resilience in dealing with grief and generalized adversity. Smiles and tears guaranteed.

Mary Gordon is recognized internationally as an award-winning social entrepreneur, educator, author, child advocate, and parenting expert, who has created programs informed by the power of empathy. Her organization, Roots of Empathy, was selected by the Finnish organization HundrED as one of the 100 most inspiring educational projects in the world in 2018 and 2019. Roots of Empathy was also chosen as one of the world’s top two best-practice children’s organizations by the Klaus J. Jacobs Foundation and furthermore won an UpSocial global competition of evidence-based programs that address the challenge of children at risk of social exclusion.

Presented in partnership with The Children’s Room.

Light refreshments will be provided.
